Ongoing progress!
Well after only doing 1 trackday last year I was determined to do a few more in 2003. so I booked up on an "old skool" track day run by easytrack at Bruntingthorpe in June 2003. This gave me all winter to do further mods to the car. As always it was "leave it to the last minute" but by then the weather had got a bit better.
At the end of last year I had brought a set of Gartrac monte carlo "big fcuking" tarmac alloy arches and group 4 front spoiler from my mate "Dingy". I was determined to get these on before the car went out again, but of course it was a lot of work to do. I also had a new axle to go on, Bruce had kindly given me a 2.8i Capri Atlas axle complete with LSD. The axle already came with brackets for a read disc conversion, so all I had to get was the discs and cals.... or so I thought !!
Anyway here are some pics of the arches going on.... A big thanks to mate Greame who did most of the arch work and the decals, and Brett who also has helped ot loads on the Mexico. Top job !
Here's some pics of us fitting the Tarmac Alloy arches...almost a step by step guide..
...and then on goes the blue stripe.. well it has to stand out on the track !
and finally some paint on the new arches......
and now to replace the std RS axle with an Atlas LSD with 3.7 CWP....
....and of course some rear discs.. wot a lot of work that was, mainly because the axle has brackets for Cossie calipers and not XR3i ones. I couldn't use Cossie ones because I wanted to stick with 13" wheels.... but we got there in the end..just
..and I just had to have this tank, mmmmm
...and the end result, here at Brunters June 2003
More info to follow soon... the next installment will be a rebuild of the head after Castle Combe RSOC track day where one of the followers came loose and damaged 2 tophats !!
